Sustainability Policy

We are passionate about trying to keep our impact on the planet as low as possible. We love to bring joy to the world in the form of our lovingly created paper goods, but if that comes at the expense of the environment itself then perhaps we’re not doing such a great job of spreading the joy as we’d have liked. We are still on a journey towards being as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible, but we’re trying to be more and more conscious of our business decisions, while being fully open about where we’re up to in that process.

What follows is some info on where we’re currently at:

Made in the UK

All our products are printed in the UK, onto papers made in the UK.

All our new greetings cards and prints from 2020 onwards are all printed onto FSC certified paper. We do hold some older stock of some designs that are not on FSC certified papers, but as those sell through all our prints & cards will solely be FSC certified.

Our postcards are not currently printed onto FSC certified paper, but as we come to replenishing our current stocks we will be looking to change to an FSC board.

All new envelopes are made using recycled Kraft paper. We do hold some older stock that are not all made from recycled materials, but as those sell through all our envelopes will solely be made from recycled Kraft paper.

The board backs used to provide sturdiness and protection for our prints when they are sold in stores and at art fairs are made from 100% recycled materials.

Our printers are also actively working to reduce their impact on the environment.

Everything is made and packaged in the UK (unless stated otherwise on the product listing).

Product Packaging

We are currently making the switch from using clear cellophane bags to package our cards, prints and notepads to using clear compostable bags made from potato/corn starch instead, and sometimes even leaving the products completely naked (at stockist/customer request). Any new products/prints from Autumn 2019 onwards are packaged using these compostable bags, but we do still hold a very small amount of stock that was packaged using the original cellophane packaging. Once these have all sold we will be fully committed to only using compostable bags in our product packaging.

All our postcards, notebooks and pencils are sold completely unpackaged both to consumers and stockists.

All stockists can rest assured that any wholesale orders placed will only contain products packaged in compostable bags (or left naked upon request) as wholesale items are packaged to order.

Shipment Packaging

We always try to work with suppliers that are also aiming to reduce their plastic usage, and we request for no plastic shipping materials to be used wherever possible.

Our consumer orders are packaged in board-backed paper envelopes and wraps that are completely plastic-free. The only exception is our A3 prints, which are packaged in cardboard tubes with plastic ends. We are yet to find a viable alternative to this, but are always looking. Do let us know if you know of one.

We re-use packaging and boxes from our suppliers to complete our stockist orders. This hugely reduces the amount of waste we produce as we have to source almost zero extra packaging materials for wholesale orders. We are working through some of our own plastic bubble wrap still too, but if/when we do have to source extra packaging materials, we are committed to sourcing eco-friendly options going forward, such as paper packing tape and paper padding, wherever possible.
